Cylinder Head Review: Corrected Speedmaster Aluminum

Cylinder Head Review: Corrected Speedmaster Aluminum

This set represents one of our off-the-shelf cylinder head packages, available for just under $2,000 as of July 2025—an exceptional value for the level of work involved.

The castings themselves are clean and consistent, with no significant flaws or cosmetic defects. They present well and provide a solid foundation for performance work.

Each set receives a detailed review and touch-up from the team at Parkland Performance Auto Machine. We address blend points in the ports, perform chamber deshrouding where beneficial, and finalize critical transitions. The short-turn work is clearly visible and is a key contributor to reliable airflow performance.

The guideplates are ProComp units sized for 5/16” pushrods, and the rocker studs are matched accordingly. Both components have proven dependable in this configuration.

While spring brand may vary by batch, the spec remains consistent: approximately 120 lbs on the seat and 300 lbs open. These are single springs with dampers, paired with industry-standard locks and retainers. Valve seals are metal-clad Viton for durability.

The valve package is one of the standout features. These heads come equipped with 2.19”/1.76” stainless steel valves—typically Ferrea 5000-series. A professional three-angle valve job with a proper back cut is performed, significantly enhancing the heads’ flow potential and overall performance reliability.

In discussions about 385-series head options and their respective cost-to-power benefits, we consistently find that our “corrected” ProComp heads offer outstanding performance for builds targeting under 500 horsepower. The combination of quality control, targeted corrections, and attention to detail makes this package one of the best values in its class.
